Contact Lens Information
If you are interested in contact lenses, we have you covered. At Eye Pieces in Plano, we offer the widest selection of contact lenses in the industry with patient rebates and very competitive prices across the board.
What type of eye conditions can contacts correct?
If you have nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia), astigmatism, presbyopia (needing bifocals or reading glasses), keratoconus, pellucid marginal degeneration, or want to change your eye color with color contact lenses, we can fit patients for those conditions. We also offer contact lenses to help reduce the need for glasses (ortho K or orthokeratology) or to control the amount of myopia / nearsightedness (myopia control) for children. Even if you have not worn contact lenses in the past, most patients are excellent candidates and we will take our time to train you how to insert the contact lenses and remove them.
What type of contacts are the best for me?
Most of our patients are currently fitted in daily disposables since they are the safest, cleanest, most comfortable contact lens available. Our large selection of daily disposable contact lenses is one reason why many patients come to our office. Most of their previous eye doctors continue to fit them in old technology contact lenses which are not as comfortable for the patient. All of our eye doctors in Plano have specialized and are fully trained in the best technology to select which contact lenses are best for the health of all of our patients. We have contact lenses that are very breathable, moist, provide UV protection, and even blue light protection! For those patients that are not able to be fitted with daily disposable contact lenses, we also offer contact lenses that are 2 week disposables, 1 month disposables, quarterly replacement, and yearly replacement. Make an appointment today to find out which type of contacts are best for you!
Do I need specialty contact lenses?
Eye Pieces is one of a few contact lens specialists in the area that fits specialty contact lenses. We fit contact lenses for patients with very high prescriptions, high astigmatism, patients that have keratoconus, post-LASIK patients, RK (radial keratotomy) surgery, bifocal / multifocal, Intacts corneal implants, or for patients that have corneal scarring. Our eye doctors are able to select from lenses such as sclerals, hybrid (Synergeyes), rigid gas permeable (RGP), or specialty, custom made soft lenses for corneal diseases.
Do you use any special equipment to diagnose my eye condition and prescription?
All of our contact lens examinations and fittings undergo several special diagnostic mapping equipment in the office along with a very detailed corneal microscope evaluation to make sure the patient is a good candidate. The doctor can then make the best decision on which contact lens will be the best for the patient. This equipment is only found inside the office. If this equipment is not being used, we believe you are not receiving adequate testing so you can have the best visual acuity and comfort.
Types of Specialty Lenses:
Scleral Lenses: these lenses are rigid lenses that are about the size of a soft contact lens or larger. These lenses are fitted for patients with keratoconus, dry eyes, pellucid marginal degeneration, corneal scarring, high prescriptions, multifocals, or for patients looking for higher quality vision.
Hybrid Lenses: these lenses are half soft and half rigid, just like the name states. These lenses can also be fitted for the same conditions as the scleral lenses above.
Orthokeratology / Ortho-K Lenses: these lenses are rigid lenses that are fitted for patients that would like to reduce the amount of nearsightedness (myopia) and not wear glasses. They are worn for several hours in the evening and then removed in the morning. After removal, the patient has improved vision and most of our patients are 20/20 after they remove the lenses!
